The Home has its sights set on all the big makers. Unlike the L&H Mandocello that we missed out on, we were first in line for this comparatively rare Vega Mandola.
Constructed with a nice and fully bound Spruce top and rosewood back & sides. The bent spruce top has sealed top cracks present, that were expertly repaired many moons ago – and recently touched up. The original pickguard is intact. The top is very strong, and the bridge is at full height, with an additional scarfed piece of ebony at its base to actually increase the height. The mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard with dot pearl inlays is straight and true, and yields easy to play low action that measures 5/64″ in height at the twelfth fret. The frets themselves had recently had a level and crown.
It is possible that this is a Style 302, however the presence of the rosewood back and sides suggests a higher grade model.
Gig bag.
