Bowlback Mandola

This lively looking mandola was a gift by a very good friend.  She remembers playing it when younger so that would put it somewhen in the 70s/80s.  Though it could be older.

There are no marks inside or out to determine provenance.  The bowl bands are much larger suggesting an entry-level instrument.

There is some separation of the neck and the body, bending the joint back somewhat so that the action is unplayably high.  Unless I fix it, there;’s little to be done here other than admire.

There is no case.
