1915 Gibson H-1 Mandola – Sold

I bought this mandola via craigslist off some guy in New York.  This was the final purchase of the landmark MG for Gibson deal I swung several years ago.

I knew about the tiny sliver of a crack along the outside of the body, but was very surprised that when it arrived the back had separated slightly from the body at the lower bout (itself a common point of separation).   This was fixed immediately.

Seems as though the finish was removed at some point giving it a nice matte-pumpkin look.  Came with a bone saddle, the bridge for which was cracked so it was replaced with a normal one. Unsure about the tuners — some have said original, but they don’t look like it to me.  Original pickguard.

Has a soft case.
