This well loved Loar-era A4 came to the home unexpectedly, but it is such a nice fit with the F4 (with a Virzi) and the H4, that we had to take a chance on it.
After coming in 2nd on both Lyon & Healy Mandocello and a K4 Mandocello with the same provenance as the Home’s H4, we decided to see if the new owner of the K4 would swap for the Home’s K4 and some cash by putting an ad out on the Mandolin Cafe. Not only did we learn that the same person beat us out for both Mandocellos (and will not trade), we were contacted by the owner of this A4.
Seeing it as a consolation prize, we went for it and happy to say it is fitting in nicely.
Beautiful example of a snakehead A4, with an exceptionally vibrant fleur de lis inlay. Even better it has the very rare chocolate tuners. All original, no cracks or repairs. Only blemishes apart from normal play wear is some rubbing down to the bare wood near the tailpiece and someone inscribing their initials? ‘D N’ on the pickguard. Original case in good shape.
